Assam, the land of blue mountains and red river, is nestled in the gorgeous south eastern hills of Himalayas. It is one of the states in India and serves as the gateway to North Eastern India.
The below picture is of a fishery at my uncle's place. Every time we visit him, he could catch a fish and cook it for us.
Kopou Phool (Foxtail Orchid) is the state flower of Assam. It blooms during April, the onset of spring. My mom tends to them and makes sure they bloom every year.
During Rongali Bihu, celebrated in mid April, young kids from neighbourhood would form group called Bihu toli and visit every household. They will sing Bihu song and dance and then bless the household.
I have grown up in one of the major cities in Assam, overlooking
lush hills and magnificent fields. I enjoy visiting both my mother's and
father's villages. The beauty that surrounds the ancestral home can't
be found in the hub hub of metallic cars and concrete buildings of the
metropolis.
Famous for it's sprawling tea gardens, one horned rhinos and pristine natural beauty.
