Nestled between deep valleys and huge mountains is Umiam Lake in Shillong, Meghalaya (a north eastern state in India). The first thing that strikes you is the absolute stillness of the surroundings, as if the time has come to a halt here. As if beseeching you to forget about the world and soak in the calmness of the lake. Serene, refreshing, quiet – the gorgeous view is still stuck in my mind. Boat rides are available which takes to a little closer to nature.
