Wanderlust Tales : Hiking #atozchallenge

One cannot miss the opportunity explore the gorgeousness of Sydney… specially when you are living there. The coastal walks, beaches and the magnificent mountain range, haven for all the outdoorsy people.

I came across Blackheath while looking for places with snowfall. Since it gets really hot during summers, I usually prefer going for walks and hiking during Sept and Oct when it’s relatively cooler. Took us two hours to complete the hike from Govett’s Lookout to Pulpit Rock. I felt so small and insignificant when compared to the magnificence of nature.

Pulpit Rock

I know keep talking about Spit to Manly Coastal walk. Bushwalking actually, which is an Australian term for hiking. And when you have friends to play along, even better.

Hiking in Blue Mountains was probably the longest hike I ever did – 5 hours. But that’s mostly because we lost the way in the Leura Forest. Well the forest was dense, but we loved it. We crossed many waterfalls, walked along dangerous edges and even got a chance to walk below the Three Sister rock.

The Three Sister Rock, when we walked below it.
It was an amazing experience to see the famous rocks from below. When I look at the picture now I can’t believe I was amidst such dense foliage.

Along with ClaireParul and Shaliniwe have formed an Unconventional Alliance with A to Z co-host Pam Margolis as the ring leader … all set to rock the party

  1. Looks like some great hiking. I live in the U.S. and have never been to Australia. Thanks for sharing it with us. I am also doing the A to Z. My theme is NATURE!

  2. Nice to find a fellow Aussie travel blogger as part of the A to Z Challenge. I would love to do some hiking in the Blue Mountains. It is definitely on my bucket list. Gorgeous photos.

  5. The colours always seem brighter in your pictures Raj, the water more blue and the trees greener.

  8. I've never gone hiking before. I lack that stamina and energy, but I think I must go for it at least once. The beautiful pictures of the mind-blowing views are making me think this way 😉

  9. Beautiful. We had planned to do the Manly to Spit walk last time we were in Sydney, but it rained everyday.

  10. Though I would never turn down a trip to Australia if the opportunity arose, it has never been on my radar much, other than a visit there would mean I had visited 6 continents, but these pictures make me want to visit just to go hiking…..however if I am looking for snow, I need go no further than my front window today, as despite the fact it is April, it is currently snowing. ~tinbugs at Travelling Spoons
