Po Lin Monastry
-Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Hong Kong
One of the highlights of Lantau Island is the stunning Po Lin Monstary, nestled between lush mountains, home to many devoted monks and popular for its architectural beauty.

The entrance to the courtyard looked magnificent, potted Poinsettia complimenting the red and copper hues of traditional Chinese architecture.
Look at those impressive designs above the door. I frankly don't know what they are called, but was absolutely in awe at such delicate work.
More gorgeousness as we walked further, towards the Monastery.

Since photography was prohibited inside the main hall, here's a picture I found on Google.
The golden interiors and the intricate carvings on the ceiling left me in awe. It is one of the most beautiful architectural design I have seen till date. The aroma of incense sticks filled my nostrils as I stepped into the temple, its walls drenched in holden hue. The quetitude of the place slowly takes you away from the hulabaloo of the outside world.
I sat there for long, admiring the decoration, soaking in the beauty of the place, for I not know if I will return. The exterior walls of the temple too are decorated with huge engravings.
Outside the monastery, you can see the towering structure of Big Buddha.
Before heading out towards the bus stop, I filled my tummy with these delicious vegetarian Chinese delicacies sold at a small restaurant near the temple, probably the only restaurant in that area.
This was an experience I would forever remember. Overwhelming beauty, both natural and man-made, I was fortunate enough to witness in one day.
