The ducks and the black swans made a beeline to greet me as soon as I walked near the waterfront. I was surprised that they were not scared of human presence. They probably expected goodies from me, which I did not bring, so soon they lost interest and swam away.
Named after the architect who designed Canberra - Walter Burley Griffin, Lake Burley Griffin is an artificial lake in the approximate center of the beautifully planned capital of Australia. It's hard to miss as you drive towards Parliament House. The shoreline circles up to 40.5 km in length while the length of the lake is 9km. Inaugurated in 1964, the lake was formed by damming Molonglo River.

You can indulge in numerous water sport activities like Rowing, Fishing, Sailing, Kayaking and Stand up paddle. If not anything else, you can hire a bike and cycle around the beautiful lake, stopping by various monuments on the way. The cycling and walking track is well maintained and freely accessible to the public.
I got a chance to look at 360 degree view of the city from Telsta Tower, located at the summit of Black Mountain. The curving Lake looks even more beautiful from the top.
